1) Uncle Wiggly played a battle of the bands up in Brigham City back in '76. On the way home somewhere near Orem Kevin Wright who was riding in my car said to me, 'are we unloading the gear tonight?'. It was about 3 AM.
I said let's ask, so we pulled up next to Rick Bos and Mike Minor who were riding in Rick's Chevy van with all of the equipment. Just as Kevin rolled down the window to yell to Rick, the back driver side wheel of Rick's van came off and the van swerved all over the freeway and a giant rooster tail of sparks shot out from behind the van as the axle hit the ground.
I sped up and pulled ahead to get out of the way then pulled over on the shoulder of the freeway. As I stopped and got out of my car to go see Rick and Mike who had also pulled over a little ways back behind me, the wheel from Ricks van went right by me rolling down the freeway towards Provo.
We left the van at the side of the road, retrieved the tire/wheel and the next day it was towed home and fixed for $12 as I remember. Just some new lug nuts.
2) Uncle Wiggly threw a gig at the National Guard armory in Vernal Utah. We had done the same thing in Elko and Ely Nevada and really made a ton of money, so we tried the same thing in Vernal - during dear season. Not a soul turned up because they were all out hunting. We didn't make a penny but had to pay for rent, radio, bus. license, and a cop. We didn't have a cent for gas or lodging so we had to have one of the guys girl friends drive all the way out to Vernal that night to bring money so that we could eat and get home.
