Ron Mortimore

Ronald Lynn Mortimore, a beloved father and musician, passed away on his 71st birthday, January 10, 2023. Born on January 10, 1952, Ron spent his life sharing his passion for music with others. As the bass guitarist and harmonica player for the band Solid State, Ron brought joy to countless fans. His love for blues music was evident in his soulful harmonica playing during open jam sets.

A graduate of Springville High School and Utah Valley University, Ron lived in Provo and American Fork, Utah, before spending his later years in Mexico. He worked in Public Works for the City of Orem. Despite battling Parkinson's disease and other health issues, Ron's spirit and love for music remained strong. 

His son remembered him fondly, reflecting on the poignancy of his passing on his birthday: "Life has a way of putting everything into perspective... reminding us that the circle of life is not one where we choose the timing." Ron will be deeply missed by his loved ones, but his musical legacy will live on.
