1965 ~ 2011

Eric left this earth Saturday morning November 19, 2011 in Rockwall, TX of complications incidental to diabetes. He was 46. Born June 21, 1965 in Provo to Dr. Robert and Bernice Petersen. He lived in Provo most of his life.

He filled his life with music and humor. He rarely sent an email that did not generate a smile. He loved to tease his nephews. He attended Rock Canyon, Farrer, Timpview, Univ. of Utah and recently UVU. He was an Eagle Scout. He married his soul mate Kelly Patricia McGettiganJuly 11, 1992. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Eric learned to love and play the guitar from age 10. He constantly pushed his abilities and became a grand master of the classical guitar. He attended the famous Grove School of Music in Van Nuys, CA. He could play songs of every genre, and was also an excellent composer. He taught hundreds of students at Herger's Music and privately. He synthesized music and sound effects for games. He worked for Matrix Games and had his own company Cartel Games. Recently he worked for Barking Lizards Technologies in Richardson, TX. He attended the LDS church diligently and gave computer back up for the ward clerk.

He is survived by his wife Kelly Patricia MeGettigan, parents Dr. Robert and Bernice Petersen, brothers Sandy of Rockwall, TX, and John of Providence, UT., and sisters Linda Vilhena of Florence, OR., Julia Hammon of Simi Valley, CA., and Joslyn Renshaw of Pleasant Grove, UT.

Funeral services will be held at the Edgemont Stake Center, 2950 N. Provo Canyon Rd., 11a.m. Monday, Nov. 28. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Craig Sames

Eric was a great guitarist and fun guy to be around. I reaaly enjoyed playing with him in Freakey Styley and Rick Ryan's band. He will be missed!
