Blu Condition (about 1967)
Jubal
Guitar
Our band was called Blu Condition. Named after a song on Cream’s Disraeli Gears album. We dropped the e on Blu.
The band changed their name to Chrysalis after they replaced me with Dave Twelves when I received my draft notice. Dave died in early 1980s in Florida. He played a couple bands here early 1970s and when he finished his PhD in chemical engineering & design, he went to Florida to for the team that designed the retro rockets on the space shuttles. He was in a band there at the time he died.
Dennis Prestwich played in many bands, most notable Jubal.
But many others and I hear now he may be in a Doors cover band in Nevada. My story was as a loner. I had many friends in the Utah bands in the 1970s and followed and helped when I had time. As I aged, I played and for family and friends. Nowadays I play and sing for our Good Sam's chapter. And my many grandchildren of course. I sing with a rough rattle now, due to Parkinson’s Disease, but I still enjoy it. But as I said, my best audience was the 4 or 5 days out of the jungle on the firebases playing and singing for my buddies…on a borrowed guitar. Obviously I couldn’t carry a guitar in the jungle as a machine gunner; but I look at those days entertaining my friends with humility considering it was during war.
I thank God one of those soldiers snapped this photo of me at Vung Tau city in the R&R center with a borrowed guitar. I have on the FB profile now.
